Webinar Speakers

David G. Adams is a member in the Corporate Practice at Mintz, based in their Washington, D.C., office. With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, he specializes in regulatory and enforcement matters, particularly at the intersection of financial technology and U.S. financial regulation. Before joining Mintz, Adams held positions at global law firms Goodwin Procter and Clifford Chance, advising clients on financial regulatory and enforcement issues related to traditional and crypto assets, as well as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations. His earlier career includes roles at the SEC’s Division of Investment Management and FINRA’s Market Regulation & Transparency Services Department. 

Katherine Dowling is on the Executive Management team and is the general counsel and chief compliance officer of Bitwise Asset Management. She previously served in general counsel, CCO, and COO roles at several financial and private equity firms, and was a co-founder, managing director and COO of Luminate Capital Partners, a software private equity firm in San Francisco. A Harvard Law School graduate, Dowling spent over a decade as a federal prosecutor, most recently in the Economic Crimes Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, where she worked with the FBI, SEC, IRS and other agencies to prosecute insider trading, fraud, and money laundering cases, among others. She serves on the boards of two non-profit organizations. 

Brandi Reynolds serves as the chief growth officer and senior managing director of fintech and banking compliance at Bates Group, bringing over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Her expertise encompasses anti-money laundering and consumer protection compliance, with a focus on fintech, cryptocurrency, and money services businesses (MSBs). Previously, she founded CorCom, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in federal compliance and risk management. She has also held roles as an outsourced CCO for various financial institutions. Reynolds holds multiple certifications, including Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), CAMS-Audit, Certified Cryptocurrency Investigator (CCI), and Certified Cryptoasset Anti-Financial Crime Specialist (CCAS). 

William A. Nelson is director of public policy and associate general counsel at the IAA. Previously, he was assistant general counsel and public policy counsel at CFP Board and chief compliance officer for Mercer Advisors. He has also held roles as an attorney with both the U.S. Departments of Justice and Veterans Affairs. Nelson has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and George Washington University Law School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tulsa, his J.D. with Honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law, and his LL.M. from the George Washington University Law School.
