Firm Goes Active as Investing Landscape Shifts
April 11, 2023
“Now is the time for active management.”
That’s the headline of a recent article in Institutional Investor, which looks at the investment strategy of TIFF, an outsourced chief investment officer firm.
TIFF CEO Kane Brenan tells the publication that the plethora of challenges in the market — banking turmoil, inflation, reemerging recession fears — has the firm embracing a more “active investment style.”
Brenan says firms that do nothing in the market turmoil are taking a “fundamentally flawed approach,” as the investing landscape has changed — and that there are opportunities to be had if you know where to look.
The article points out that TIFF’s managers actively seek out sectors and investments that they think will “dominate the market for up to seven years.”
Those sectors include biotech and payments.
“If you think about activeness, that’s us saying what’s a good place to be for the next three-to-seven years,” Brenan stated.
