Canadian Securities Administrators Proposed National Instrument 31-103 Registration Requirements
On February 29, the Canadian Securities Administrators released a revised draft of National Instrument 31-103, a re-proposed registration regimen that attempts to harmonize registration
requirements for investment advisers among the different Canadian provinces and territories. The proposal and its Companion Policy 31-103CP would require registration of investment fund managers,
set higher proficiency requirements for IA representatives, and introduce requirements for complaint handling and dispute resolution. A copy of the proposal is available at http://www.osc.gov.on.ca/Regulation/Rulemaking/Current/Part3/rule_20080229_3
